The winter recruitment period is always a time of intense speculation and potential major deals. Numerous notable stars are being connected to transfers out of their current clubs. This article explores some of the top names who might be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the player available, indications are a major move is imminent. This 25-year-old has a deal featuring a sizeable release clause active for a two-week period in early January. Recent developments suggest Manchester City have emerged as his signature. The Welsh winger has had first-team opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Although finishing as the side's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a handful of league games. Reports suggest the North London club is open to a transfer for the right valuation, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an inquiry.

Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing curiosity in the keeper.

This proven England centre-forward has continued scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might enhance his fading hopes of making the national squad. The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has broken into the AZ first team. This 19-year-old is widely expected to complete a major transfer this month.
